Black Luxe Cande Co.
Ecommerce and Brick and Mortar Retail Store
Brittany Taylor, Founder and CEO of Black Luxe Candle Co. is a compassionate self-care advocate who reluctantly got into the candle-making business. According to Brittany, “I didn’t choose this candle maker life. This candle life chose me.” After experiencing a devastating personal loss, Brittany began her candle-making journey as a way to promote her healing and help friends and family set calming moods with candles that were hand-crafted with love.
Brittany is a talented marketing professional with a background in advertising art and design. When she engaged with LR Brand Consulting, she had recently quit her business (which was a side-hustle at the time) and decided to start all over again. However, she needed help to refine and elevate her business brand from a candle company to a luxury aromatic experience that empowers customers to practice joy and wellness. She engaged LR Brand Consulting to help her define her unique value proposition, elevate her personal story, and position her brand for success.
Strategy and Execution
Through our strategy sessions, we helped Brittany refine and position her brand and identify opportunities for brand activation and growth.
Additionally, our team provided Brittany with business brand support that included:
Brand strategy and planning session
Target market analyses
SWOT analysis
Direct and indirect competitor research
Brand Engagement Strategy
Outcome
After engaging with LRBC and under our direction, Brittany increased the cost of her candles to increase her competitive edge and position her company as a premier brand. She built the confidence to promote her business better and develop the partnerships needed to thrive.
Black Luxe Candle Co. has received celebrity praise, such as “Power” and “Coming 2 America” actor, Rotimi. Brittany has not only achieved multiple five-figure months, but she opened her first brick-and-mortar store in Chicago’s Bucktown community, where she hosts candle-making classes and partners with local influencers for community events.
She also began investing in young entrepreneurs by creating a Summer Entrepreneurship Program that helps Chicago Public Schools middle school students of color learn about investing and operating a business. Black Luxe’s investment in the next generation of Black entrepreneurs not only advances the brand’s commitment to social justice but contributes to its differentiation in the market as a socially responsible company.
“Lindrea was amazing to work with! She was very thoughtful in how she worked with me during our time together. We went through various exercises, helping me to achieve the strategic plan I needed. I truly enjoyed working with her and highly recommend her services.”
